Vulnerability Assessment · Systems & applications
Know your weaknesses, and which to fix first.
We scan and manually check your operating systems, servers, workstations and applications, rate each weakness by impact and likelihood, then sit down with your team to agree a hardening plan you can start on straight away.
Why assess regularly
Known weaknesses are the ones attackers try first.
A current view of exposure
Patch levels, configurations and installed software drift as systems change. A regular assessment shows where you stand today, not at the last audit.
Risk, not just a list
Each vulnerability is rated by the impact of an exploit and the likelihood of one, so remediation effort goes to the issues that carry real risk.
Your team leaves ready to act
We walk your engineers through severe findings and major risks, then agree remediation priorities and a hands-on hardening plan together.
How we assess
Five phases. One prioritised fix list.
Automated scanning finds the candidates. Manual checks and analysis decide which ones matter, so the report you receive is accurate, ranked and ready to use.
Preparation
We define which systems, networks and applications are in scope, then secure the approvals and access the assessment needs.
Information gathering
Reconnaissance scans, a review of documentation and interviews with your staff build an accurate picture of each target.
Vulnerability scanning
Automated tools and manual techniques check every target for known vulnerabilities, misconfigurations and security threats.
Vulnerability analysis
Each result is weighed for impact and likelihood of exploitation, then ranked by the level of risk it poses to you.
Reporting
A clear account of your security posture, with the risk of every vulnerability and a prioritised list of recommended actions.
Scope and deliverables
What we examine, findings with evidence, then remediation and handover.
Expected outcomes: a current view of your exposure, remediation ranked by risk, and a hardening plan your team can start on straight away.

Your assessment questions, answered.
What security and compliance teams want to know before an assessment begins.
What does a vulnerability assessment cover?
Server and workstation operating systems, installed software and patch levels, plus web applications, databases and custom software. We agree the exact systems, networks and applications with you during preparation, before any scanning starts.
Will scanning interrupt our systems?
Scanning is planned during preparation, with approvals and access agreed in advance. We work with your team on timing for sensitive systems, so the assessment fits around normal operations.
How often should we run an assessment?
Regularly, because new vulnerabilities are published and your systems change over time. Many organisations align the cycle with patching or audit calendars, and we can advise on a rhythm that suits your risk.
Is this the same as a penetration test?
No. A vulnerability assessment identifies and rates weaknesses without exploiting them. A penetration test takes the next step and attempts controlled exploitation. Many clients pair regular assessments with periodic penetration tests.
How does the report support compliance?
Risk ratings, evidence and a board-level summary give auditors a documented, repeatable record of how you find and treat vulnerabilities. ExceedGRC can then track each remediation item to closure.
